The CEO’s Mandate: 90 Days to rewire companies. In a world where AI will be in everything and everywhere, CEOs will act much faster than they have in the past. In fact, the first 90 days of 2026 will be the most crucial for many of them. The challenge ahead is one of being competitively viable and comparable, or at best, predictively and intelligently ahead of your competitors. But that isn’t easy to do when there is underlying resistance to change. That uncertainty sometimes comes from the top and, most of the time, from the rank and file, who are worried about their futures. Some organizations may even experience internal sabotage of their initiatives. Anyone participating in such actions should be fired and even charged.

The ability to compete is at risk. AI is the most consequential technological development we have seen. I have experienced firsthand AI capabilities that sometimes make me question whether we will need as many workers. However, in the meantime, I will follow the common day nomenclature that there will be new jobs created. And yet, I even question who will qualify for them? We are already seeing the challenges faced by graduates who should be better prepared, and they are not.  Many do not qualify for the open jobs. We can’t all become Data Scientists, and not all of them will be super scientists who will discover breakthroughs. We have never been in a period like this other than war, where your country and cities are being attacked. Is this a comparable moment?

I’ve highlighted this only because it is essential in our discussion of what CEOs need to deal with over the next four 90-day intervals to accelerate their organizations’ rewiring to a Human-AI transformation. And this isn’t about creating human cyborgs, far from it. This technology will push human intelligence to higher levels of competencies and capabilities. And those who do not fear it will have the greatest success.

In the AI economy, strategy no longer unfolds over years; it collapses into quarters. Competitive advantage is won by organizations that can sense changes early, interpret them quickly, and act with discipline before market forces force their hand. Tariffs, supplychain instability, automation, and AI-driven pricing have compressed the time between signal and consequence. The old leadership rhythm, annual plans, quarterly reviews, and slow-motion transformation now behave like a liability because the external environment is rewriting assumptions faster than internal teams can update slides.

And it isn’t just businesses that will realize this; every institution, from healthcare to education and government, will scramble to keep up if they don’t invest today. And as businesses go, so will nations. The same lack of innovation and productivity will be like creative destruction on steroids. AI is creative destruction. The CEO’s new mantra: 90 days to rewire companies isn’t a nice-to-do; it is an imperative.
